LIFE IS A BEACH
WALK!
George Town Villas has a very unique
beach located on the quiet end of Seven Mile Beach that provides
peace and tranquility for those who enjoy the sun, bird watching,
reading a book or watching the cruise ships slip in and out of
Georgetown Harbor in the distance.
For more adventure you might walk
the beach. Wait until you see the rest of Seven Mile Beach with
its' white sand and intense turquoise water! I prefer walking
in the morning
when the air is cooler: This is also the time when I am most energized.
I travel light ( bathing suit, hat, sun glasses and a bottle of
water ) as I am often tempted to "cool off" a few times along
the way. Hint: Freeze the bottle and it will stay cold. Walk at
low tide when the sand is firm; otherwise it will feel like you
are trekking through thick snow. Keep alert because you are going
to encounter a variety of sights.
On occasion, I have run into friends
from home, strolling on the beach, who have disembarked from a
cruise ship for the day. You will notice grape, almond and many
types of palm and evergreen trees along the beach. I often see
interesting wildlife such as salamanders, schools of fish, turtles,
hermit crabs, sand crabs and once, a baby stingray.
I
particularly like taking a walk after a storm. Lots of small shells
and delicate sea fans often wash ashore; these can be added to
your seascape collection. It is against Marine Park Law to take
sea fans from the ocean floor, but if they wash up on the beach,
they are used for the taking. I rinse the fans thoroughly; let
them dry outside and then spray paint them in a metallic gold
color. They can be decoratively placed between the branches of
a Christmas tree or used as an embellishment to a wrapped gift
or silk flower arrangement.
After
walking, you can enjoy the beach for some exhilarating snorkeling
or swimming. I have a favorite cove that I use when I swim, snorkel
or float on a raft. Don't miss our sunsets! They are the most
spectacular I have ever seen with the many pastel hues of blue,
pink and lavender radiating up from the horizon. I like sitting
at the beach after dark at the water's edge, listening and watching
the water gently lap onto the shore; it is a perfect way to end
the day in paradise.
